Program before lunch (10-14)
Into the basement of Hell
Author: Karl Joachim Heinrich Bøe
Host: Karl Joachim Heinrich Bøe
Players: 6-10
Time: Aproximately 1 hour workshop and 2 hours of playtime
Content warning: blasphemy, violent language, racism, "evil-topics", suicide, mental illness, murder.
Pitch: Into the basement of hell is a horror-comedy game about boys being boys, trauma, Mcdonalds and church-burning. Using game mechanics that quantify social standing and one upsmanship the game attempts to explore the positive and negative aspects of outsider groups for men, the situations they put people in, and how they can lead to radicalisation. The game attempts to do this through a stylized, and less than historic recreation of the social interactions in the early Norwegian black metal scene.
The quiet year:
Author: Avery Alder
Host: Even
Players: 2-5
Time: 3-4 hours
Content warning: Players decide
Pitch: The Quiet Year is a map game. You define the struggles of a community living after the collapse of civilization, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year. Every decision and every action is set against a backdrop of dwindling time and rising concern.
The game is played using a deck of cards – each of the 52 cards corresponds to a week during the quiet year. Each card triggers certain events – bringing bad news, good omens, project delays and sudden changes in luck. At the end of the quiet year, the Frost Shepherds will come, ending the game.
The Quiet Year occupies an interesting space – part roleplaying game, part cartographic poetry.
Program after lunch (15:30-17:00)
Alice is missing
Author: Spenser Starke
Host: Even, Karl
Players: 3-5
Time: 2 hours
Content warning: Lack of agency, death, grief, helplessness, loss, tense family dynamics, and violence
Pitch: Alice is Missing is a silent role-playing game about the disappearance of Alice Briarwood, a high school junior in the small town of Silent Falls. The game is played live and without verbal communication. Players inhabit their character for the entirety of the 90-minute play session, and instead of speaking, send text messages back and forth to the other characters in a group chat, as well as individually, as though they aren’t in the same place together. Hauntingly beautiful, deeply personal, and highly innovative, Alice is Missing puts a strong focus on the emotional engagement between players, immersing them in a tense, dramatic mystery that unfolds organically through the text messages they send to one another.
Post match interview
Host: Paul
Players: 3+
Time: 30-60 minutes
Content warning: Avtales av spillerne
Pitch: “We play out an after match interview in a sport we totally care about, except something really REALLY weird happened at the match…”
